Thank YOU! Thank you to our donors, grantors, sponsors, community doctors, volunteers, our staff, partners, Board of Directors, Advancement Committee and, of course, our clients. You have made this an amazing year for ABVI.
This year ABVI celebrates 80 years of serving and supporting individuals who are blind and visually impaired. While there have been many program changes throughout the years, our focus has remained the same: we are dedicated to our mission.
In June we completed our first year of our Own Your Life program designed to help blind and visually impaired individuals gain more independence in their personal lives and develop skills to gain employment. In May three of our clients were employed for the first time in years.
Our clients are working for the Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind’s facility in Summerville making aerospace parts for Boeing and hydration packs for the military. Since beginning their new jobs, one of our clients was able to move into her own home with her children, and another client was able to start a savings and retirement account for the first time in her life.
The pride and confidence they radiate truly makes everything we’ve put into this program worthwhile. We are overjoyed by the program’s and our client’s successes thus far, and we are still working persistently to find employment opportunities for more of our clients.
Your generosity has improved the lives of thousands of individuals over last 80 years. With continuing advancements in our programs, improvements in eye care and assistive technology and, most important of all, with your continued support, our second 80 years promise to be even more amazing. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Courtney P. Plotner
