The Rotary Club of Charleston Fund (RCCF) recently awarded a $1,500 grant to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired – Charleston. The grant was given to provide Tel-A-Ride tickets to ABVI’s Own Your Life clients. Own Your Life is a program that helps blind and visually impaired adults in the Charleston Tri-County achieve independence in their personal lives as well as develop the skills they need to gain employment.
“Transportation, and the costs associated with it, can often be an obstacle for someone with a vision impairment,” said Courtney Plotner, Executive Director for ABVI. “We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Charleston for supporting this critical need and helping our clients independently travel from home to our offices to take Own Your Life classes.”
The RCCF grants are typically given to nonprofits within Charleston County to serve a unique community need. To learn more about the Rotary Club of Charleston, and all of its work within the community, please visit http://www.charleston-rotary.org/.
